Anne Rudloe JDPSN was a founder of the Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory, an independent nonprofit environmental center and aquarium. She received her Ph.D. from Florida State University, where she taught courses on marine biology and environmental issues for many years. Her nature writing has appeared in National Geographic, Smithsonian magazine, and numerous scientific journals as well as in newspaper columns and radio commentaries.  She is the author of Butterflies On A Sea Wind: Beginning Zen, and a co-author of Shrimp: The Endless Quest for Pink GoldPriceless Florida and the novel Chicken Wars. She began practicing Zen in 1986 with the Kwan Um School of Zen. Anne passed away in 2012.
